Los Angeles County CCW Initial Permit
Have the piece of mind in knowing you are fully equipped to defend yourself outside the home. This course is the final step in obtaining a CCW permit in Los Angeles County.
Course Overview
This course satisfies the requirements set forth by SB2 and meets the mandatory criteria in California Penal Code: 26165.
Duration: 2 consecutive days. 16 hours total.
Format: Classroom instruction. Live-fire shooting qualification.
Location: Classroom instruction will be located in Culver City. Shooting qualification will be located at LAX Firing Range.
Cancellation Policy: We do not give refunds for missed or canceled classes. We will give you full credit for a future class if you notify us 48 hours before the start of class. The credit is non-transferable and must be used within 60 days. Cancelling less than 48 hours in advance of a class will forfeit all credit or reimbursement. By registering for this class, you agree to our cancelation policy.
The classroom portion will cover topics that give the CCW holder the necessary knowledge to navigate all aspects of concealed carry. Such topics include but are not limited to:
Firearm safety
Methods of storage inside and outside the home
Firearm handling
Firearm laws: Lawful transportation, carrying in public, sensitive locations, lawful use of lethal force
Mental health
Defensive mindset and de-escalation
Gear and ammunition selection
Requirements
Must have prior approval to take the course by either the LAPD or LASD.
Must not be deemed a prohibited person from owning and/or possessing a firearm under California or federal law.
21 years of age
Valid driver license or State ID.
A handgun registered with the California DOJ in your name.

Handgun (Maximum of 3)
Extra magazines
Ammunition: 72 rounds (Plus 20 rounds for each additional firearm)
